The Function of the Belgian Gaming Commission
Belgium’s Belgian Gaming Commission is the primary regulator, applying the Act of 7 May 1999 on Games of Chance, which has been updated several times to cover online gambling. The Commission issues different license types: A for land-based casinos, A+ for online casino operations, B for sports betting, and F+ for fixed-odds betting. WinnItt Casino operates under an A+ license, which lets it provide a full range of online casino games, including slots, table games, and live dealer options. The BGC also keeps a blacklist of unlicensed sites and renews it regularly, making it easier for players and affiliates to spot legal operators. For affiliates, advertising a BGC-licensed casino means you’re working with a regulated entity that experiences regular audits, including random testing of game outcomes. That oversight prevents the casino from manipulating odds or withholding winnings unfairly. The Commission can also fine operators, withdraw licenses, or initiate criminal charges against non-compliant ones. By understanding the BGC’s authority, affiliates can confidently explain why playing at a licensed site like WinnItt Casino is safer than using unregulated alternatives.
Types of Gambling Licenses and Their Implications
Belgian gambling licenses are divided by activity, each with certain requirements. The A+ license (online casino) is the key for WinnItt Casino and its affiliates. To get an A+ license, an operator must have a physical presence in Belgium, via a land-based casino partnership or a dedicated office. This requirement signifies the operator is subject to Belgian corporate law and tax obligations. The license also demands that all games are tested by an accredited laboratory, such as BMM or eCOGRA, to validate randomness and payout percentages. For affiliates, marketing a casino with an A+ license means you can give players a safe environment with verifiable payout rates and dispute resolution channels. The BGC also enforces a maximum number of licenses per operator, avoiding market saturation and fostering healthy competition. Affiliates should recognize that the license explicitly bans certain marketing practices, like targeting minors or using false ads. Understanding these license types aids affiliates choose the right partners and steer clear of legal trouble. In addition to licensing, Belgian gambling regulations impose operating requirements that directly affect how casinos like WinnItt Casino communicate with players and affiliates. These requirements cover player protection, data privacy, anti-money laundering (AML) measures, and advertising standards. Compliance is not optional; the BGC conducts regular audits and can impose heavy penalties for violations.
